ACLS Provider (New Provider)

ACLS Online Helpful Tips

  • Certification – For anyone required to obtain/maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider (ACLS) certification (Any ACLS Providers can attend the course)
  • Classroom Course – Offered by Staff Education (Simulation Center, Ground Floor, Old ER)
  • Offered – Every Other Month (Alternates months with ACLS Renewal)
  • Offered to – any participant who has completed a dysrhythmia course, has a job requirement for ACLS certification and/or has Director approval to attend.  Please contact jpstephens@uams.edu to enroll in this class.
  • Scheduled – from 0800-1700
  • Who should attend this class?
    • Anyone who has attended a dysrhythmia course
    • Anyone with ACLS as a job requirement
    • Anyone Current in ACLS Certification
    • Anyone preferring a classroom (more hands-on) learning environment
    • Pre-Course Letter
      • Participants registered for ACLS classes will receive a Pre-Course Letter about 1 month prior to scheduled class that outlines all Pre-Course and Course requirements for successful completion of the course (Pre-Course Assessment, etc.)

  • BLS Certification in ACLS course
    • Obtain and complete BLS Online Program prior to attending the ACLS course and have BLS Skills Check performed during the ACLS course (Print & Bring certificate).  To obtain online code, complete the Online Request Form.

      • Adult/Child 1 & 2 Rescuer CPR
      • Infant 1 & 2 Rescuer CPR
      • Use of an AED
      • Bagging
  • ACLS Certification Requires Successful completion of the following:

      • Score of 84% or higher

ACLS Renewal

  • Recertification – For anyone required to maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

ACLS Online

  • Certification/Recertification – Participants that wish to obtain or recertify their ACLS certification using an online learning module
  • Online Course – Can be completed at work or home
  • Offered – 24/7 Online Learning Module
  • Offered to – any participant desiring to obtain/maintain ACLS certification.  To obtain online code, complete the Online Request Form.
  • Scheduled – Learner convenience
  • Who can complete this course?
    • Any participant that desires or is required to obtain ACLS provider status
    • Course Details:
      • You will receive AHA Online Key invitation email.
  • There are 3 components to Online Course Completion:
    • 1.  Online Program (MUST print certificate and bring to the Skills Check Session)
    • 2.  Skills Practice (Offered at the Skills Check Stations)
    • 3.  Skills Check-Off (Offered 2 times every month on Staff Ed; offered at other times and locations as posted on other units)
  • MUST complete all required modules in the program.  Optional informational modules and videos available in program
  • MUST complete 9 scenarios (2 Megacodes – Last 2 cases)
  • After completing the modules and Scenarios, you are required to take the online Test.  If you do not pass the test with 84%, you will be required to repeat the test until you pass with 84%.  If you experience difficulty with the scenarios or written exam, please contact jpstephens@uams.edu for program assistance. If you have any questions or technical issues, please contact AHA at (888) 242-8883.
  • You have 30 days to activate the key or it will be revoked.
  • You have 60 days from the online program completion date to complete the required skills check or your certificate expires.  If your certificate expires, you must retake the ACLS program at participant expense.

  • Advanced Airways (OPA/NPA)
  • Staff Ed Skills Checks:
    • Registration required
    • First Come, First Serve
    • “Come and Go”
    • Average Session takes 15-20 minutes to complete (BLS & ACLS – 30 minutes)
    • Wait time varies depending on the amount of students ahead of you and the amount of Instructors available to perform Skills Checks
    • To ensure timely readiness of your completion card, please complete all information completely and be sure to supply your SAP #
    • Course completion cards will be available for pick-up on Wednesday following the Skills Check
    • Course completion cards are to be picked up by the participant at the 8th floor Central Building Reception Desk

ACLS EP

  • Certification/Recertification – For anyone is required to carry Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification AND is experienced in providing ACLS (I.E. ED, CCU)
  • Classroom Course – Offered by Staff Education (Simulation Center, Ground Floor, Old ER)
  • Offered – Every Quarter (once every 3 months)
  • Offered to – any participant that has completed a traditional ACLS course and is experienced in providing ACLS.  It is preferred that the participant be certified as an ACLS provider at least 2-3 times before attending the experienced course.  Please contact jpstephens@uams.edu to enroll in this class.  Call (501) 686-7142 or email jpstephens@uams.edu.
